The standard contains: This standard contains 284 shall requirements, 5 clauses, 48 sub clauses, 116 sub clauses, and seven minimum procedures. It requires 28 mandatory records to support methods and procedure requirements and support measurement of carried out activities.
Important Note: This standard can be used by internal and external parties, including certification bodies to asses the organizations ability to meet customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements applicable to the product, and the organizations own requirement.
The quality management principles stated in the ISO 9001 and in ISO 9004 have been taken into consideration during the development of this standard.
This standard is based on a process approach to quality management. Any activity that receives input and converts that input to output can be considered a process. E.G. Input-Action or Activity – Output or Result of the action taken.
The goal of this standard is the development of a quality management system that provides a consistent approach to key processes and operations and continual improvement. It emphasizes defect prevention and reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
Customer specific requirements may be in addition to this standard and may include: Core Tools such as: APQP= Advanced Product Quality Planning, FEMA=Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, MSA=Measurement System Analysis, PPAP=Production Part Approval Process, SPC=Statistical Process Control.
This Standard is intended to avoid multiple certification audits and provide a common approach to a quality management system for automotive production and relevant service organizations. It represent the most comprehensive quality management system requirements among all other ISO 9000 related systems.
